"That may sound like automa- tion." says Wylie, "but actually it gives us greater freedom in arriving at a balance between the sure-fire attraction and more experimental work which we regard as a hishly important i aspect of our work. With a current budget of $3.25 million, 10 productions in three auditoriums, plus a batch of oth- er events, the Stratford Festival has travelled far since its mod-; est start in 1953.
