About Int'l Partnerships
|
World Class Partnership is an
exciting opportunity for all the schools, businesses, local governments, and communities
in South Carolina to work together in the pursuit of world class standards. Today our
nation is looking beyond our borders for friends and partners as we face the tremendous
challenges of the twenty-first century in education as well as business. International
partnerships for our schools will provide the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the
next century with success. Dr.
Barbara Nielsen World Class Partnership is a program dedicated to improving education in
South Carolina by providing the knowledge, skills, and cultural understanding essential
for success in a global society. The initiative, a collaboration between the Columbia
World Affairs Council and the SC Department of Education, features the forming of
international partnerships between elementary, middle, and high schools in South Carolina
and schools around the world. These partnerships, in turn, increase international tourism,
new business development, and market potential for the state of South Carolina. |

How International Partnerships Are Developed World Class Partnership has a network of organizations, businesses, government agencies, and individuals within South Carolina and around the world who help to identify interested schools. The schools complete an application for membership indicating the partnership activities in which they are interested, the groups they wish to involve in their partnership, and their rationale for membership. Additionally, South Carolina schools designate the country in which they would like a partner school, and their willingness to participate in faculty and staff training. A group of business advisors accepts schools for membership. The World Class Partnership program provides:
