From Fauvism to Impressionism: Albert Marquet from the Pompidou
at the Columbia, South Carolina Museum of Art
Main at Hampton Streets

Albert Marquet (1875-1947) was one of the founders of the Fauvist movement in French painting, but his early work as a Fauvist gave way at the end of his career to lyrical impressionism. Sixty paintings and twenty-two drawings, drawn entirely from the collection of the Centre Pompidou in Paris make up this first opportunity for American audiences to experience, in depth, the work of this important artist. From Fauvism to Impressionism: Albert Marquet from the Pompidou is organized and circulated nationally by ArtReach International of West Palm Beach Florida.
