"19 Cents a Day"
United Nations World Food Programme

The World Affairs Council of Columbia is excited to announce its support of the World Food Programme’s “19 Cents a Day” campaign. This campaign is aimed at raising awareness of the 300 million children around the world who are chronically hungry- and the more than 100 million that do not attend school. For 19 cents a day, the WFP can feed those children a nutritious meal at school, which means they get a full stomach and an education- the key to beating hunger and poverty.

The World Affairs Council of Columbia is kicking off an extensive fundraising effort for the World Food Programme, the United Nations’ food agency, beginning February 1 st and ending on April 15 th. We would appreciate your support for this project and encourage you to donate towards improving the quality of life in the nations served by the World Food Programme, including countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.

We are looking for schools, businesses, organizations and individuals to fundraise and/or donate to the “19 Cents a Day” campaign. You may do this by making a personal donation, placing a donation jar or box in your place of business, encouraging employees to donate or by contacting our office with other ideas.

To make a donation, please send a check to the World Affairs Council with “World Food Programme ‘19 Cents a Day’” in the subject line. If you would like assistance in coordinating a fundraising program, please contact Melanie or Katie at the Columbia World Affairs Council at (803) 252-2197. Thank you for your support.
